Why I Chose This Toothbrush for LUMAX Dental

Selected by a dental hygienist. Inspired by becoming a mum.

We teach our babies everything from holding a spoon and drinking from a cup to waving, washing their hands and eventually using the toilet.

We introduce these skills early, long before we expect them to master them.

So why should toothbrushing be any different?

After 16 years working as a dental hygienist and Oral Health Therapist, I thought I knew exactly what advice to give parents about brushing their baby's teeth.

Then I became a mum.

I quickly realised that “brush thoroughly” sounds much easier in the dental chair than it does with a wriggling baby!

Sometimes you have only a few seconds before they turn their head, close their mouth or decide they'd rather chew the toothbrush.

It made me look differently at what I wanted from a toothbrush for those very first teeth — and ultimately led me to select the LUMAX Dental Baby Teething Toothbrush.

Making Those Few Seconds Count

With 10,000 densely packed, ultra-soft bristles, the brush provides lots of gentle bristle contact across tiny tooth surfaces while brushing.

For me, the combination of density and softness was important. I wanted something practical for those short brushing windows, while still feeling gentle against little mouths and sensitive teething gums.

A comfortable early experience can also help make the toothbrush feel familiar rather than something babies immediately want to avoid.

Made With Teething in Mind

Turn the brush over and you'll find a ribbed texture on the back of the brush head, which can gently massage itchy teething gums.

Because let's face it — babies are probably going to chew their toothbrush anyway!

Little Brush, Little Hands

The baby-friendly size was another reason I chose this brush for LUMAX Dental.

While parents should still do the brushing, letting babies hold and explore their toothbrush can help them become familiar with it while practising the grip and motor skills they'll eventually use to brush independently.

We don't expect babies to use a spoon perfectly the first time we hand them one.

Toothbrushing is a skill too.

Introduce it early. Keep it gentle. Make it familiar.

Because the goal isn't just clean little teeth today — it's helping create a positive oral health routine that can grow with them.
